Full and partial dentures continue to exceed patients’ expectations with exceptional fit, function, and comfort. Designed using leading-edge materials and techniques, our modern dentures and dental prosthetics are indistinguishable from natural teeth. We offer partial and full dentures at our Metairie dental office.

What Are Dentures?

Full and partial dentures are removable prosthetics suitable for patients of all ages who would like to replace some or all of their natural teeth. Cowley Dental Care can use various materials for dentures and partials, including metal and flexible plastic. All of our dentures and partials are also made with naturally-colored denture bases so they look like real gums and seamlessly blend in with your smile.

Types of Dentures

There are several different types of dentures from which you can choose, depending on your needs:

Complete Immediate Denture

A complete immediate denture is utilized when a patient is interested in getting a denture the same day the teeth are removed. The impressions are taken before all teeth are extracted, leaving the front teeth so that our patients may remain confident in their
appearance and smile. Once the denture is completed, the remaining teeth are removed, and the denture is placed instantly.

Traditional Complete Denture

Traditional complete dentures replace all of a patient’s teeth with a new set of attractive and natural-looking teeth. Unlike bridges that are anchored to existing teeth, complete dentures sit on top of the gums and blend in naturally with a patient’s smile. Denture adhesive helps secure your new smile in place.

Partial Denture

Removable partial dentures replace several missing teeth in the upper or lower jaw. They prevent remaining teeth from shifting, and they connect or clasp to neighboring teeth. Partial dentures assist in chewing and fill missing spaces where teeth have been lost.

Implant-Supported Denture

This type of denture is securely attached to and supported by a dental implant. Implant-supported dentures provide a solid foundation for your new smile, and you never have to worry about your dentures slipping or sliding out of position.

Snap-In Overdenture

A snap-in overdenture is a convenient and removable denture held in place by dental implants. Overdentures can be snapped in place or removed for convenience. This type of denture is more stable than a traditional denture, resulting in less movement.

Your Smile Is Our Specialty

Our goal is to make sure your denture resembles natural teeth in appearance, function, and comfort. When we first fit you for your dentures, we will make sure to shape and adjust them to prevent irritation or discomfort.

Your new denture can be customized to complement your natural smile and facial features, resulting in a more natural-looking smile. Rest assured, our dentists will provide you with realistic, functional, and comfortable dentures that meet your oral health needs and smile goals.

Caring for Your Dentures

Dentures are designed to mimic natural teeth in look, feel, and function, and they should be handled with proper care.

To ensure your dentures last for many years without breaks or blemishes, brush your dentures daily. It is best to clean them with a denture toothbrush and cleaner to remove food. Your dentures must be rinsed regularly.

Dentures must also remain moist, or they can crack or lose their shape. Dentures must be removed nightly to prevent gum irritation. When you are not wearing your dentures, store them in a denture solution or lukewarm water. In addition to preventing tooth decay in your remaining teeth, regular dental exams are essential for maintaining your dentures.
