Crowns and Bridges

Dental crowns and bridges are reliable dental restorations that preserve your smile’s appearance and restore the function of your teeth. Cowley Dental Care has several restorative options from which you can choose. We look forward to helping you improve the functionality of your bite, while also enhancing you smile to enjoy for many years to come.

What Can Crowns and Bridges Fix?

A crown is a tooth-shaped cap placed over an existing tooth to preserve the natural structure and restore the tooth’s function and appearance. Crowns can also be used to anchor a bridge in place.

Crowns are an ideal solution to the following dental concerns:

  • Stained or discolored teeth
  • Broken or fractured teeth
  • Crooked teeth
  • Decayed or brittle teeth
  • Teeth that have undergone root canals
  • Broken fillings

Dental bridges replace missing teeth and fill in empty gaps in your smile. A bridge is typically a three-piece set of teeth, anchored by crowns on either side with an artificial tooth in the center. Not only does a bridge improve one’s bite and appearance, but it also prevents your natural teeth from shifting in the mouth.

Our Aesthetic, Metal-Free Crowns

At Cowley Dental Care, we offer crowns and bridges of the highest quality. We have various metal-free crown materials from which you can choose, including all-ceramic, zirconia, and EMAX. Each of these durable crowns is designed to match the luster of your natural teeth, so your smile will look as stunning and natural as ever. Depending on your unique smile and preferences, our dentists can determine which type of crown best fits your smile and your budget.

The Crown and Bridge Process

Placing a custom-made dental crown or bridge is a simple process that can be completed at our Metairie dental office.

First we prepare your natural tooth to receive the restoration, then we take digital impressions of your teeth with an intraoral scanner to make sure your crown or bridge is a perfect fit.

We work in conjunction with skilled lab technicians to assist us in creating your permanent, custom restoration. We also create for you a temporary crown or bridge so you can eat and speak comfortably until your permanent restorations are completed.

Once your lab-created restorations are ready, we will schedule a follow-up appointment for your final fitting. During this appointment, we make sure the crown or bridge fits and feels comfortable, making any necessary adjustments. Finally, the restoration is cemented into place, and you can enjoy your new and improved smile!

Caring for Your Crown or Bridge

Once your permanent restoration is placed, we will provide you with detailed instructions on caring for your new crown or bridge. Though these restorations are fully functional, it’s recommended that you take special care to prevent any damage. With proper oral hygiene and regularly scheduled dental visits, your restorations can last for a lifetime.
